Wintering: The Quiet Work Before Creation
I've been wintering this Summer. Quite literally.
While the Northern Hemisphere was in full summer mode, I was spending time in Brazil, where—even with Rio's gentle temperatures—it was winter. I wasn't just changing hemispheres; I was stepping into a different season of my life.
The past couple of months have been a time to slow down, revisit my roots, reconnect with what has shaped me over the years, and ask myself some honest questions about where I want to invest my time, my energy, and my creativity.
When Lipé House of Wellness closed its doors, it naturally created space for that reflection. Not because it marked an ending, but because it invited me to pause instead of rushing into the next thing. That hasn't always been easy for me.
For a long time, I believed I always had to keep moving, producing, and growing. It took more than one experience with burnout to teach me that Nature doesn't ask that of us. Somewhere along the way, I learned that our lives and careers have seasons too, and that winter isn't something to resist—it's something to honor.
One thing became increasingly clear: I don't have to choose between the different parts of who I am.

Design has been the thread running through my professional life for nearly three decades. Massage therapy, Ayurveda, herbalism, coaching, Vedic studies, and everything I created through Hridayam didn't take me away from that path—they expanded it. They taught me to listen more deeply, to value relationships over transactions, and to understand that…
…communication, like healing, begins with paying attention.
So this isn't really about returning to design. It's about integrating everything I've learned into a more intentional way of working.
As I move forward, I'm embracing new technologies, including AI as a thoughtful creative partner, while continuing to believe that the most meaningful work will always be deeply human. I'm also feeling a stronger pull to dedicate my time and energy to projects connected with education, health, and organizations working to create a more regenerative future.
This winter has also brought clarity about the kind of work I want to dedicate myself to. I'm naturally drawn to people and organizations who care deeply about what they do and the impact they hope to make—whether that's in environmental stewardship, wellness, cultural evolution, or simply making everyday life a little better. Those are the projects that inspire me, the conversations I enjoy having, and the collaborations I hope to cultivate.
It has also reminded me of something that has quietly shaped my work for a long time: Meaningful solutions don't come from formulas—or from following well-worn paths. They come from listening, curiosity, and a willingness to see things differently.
Listen → Understand → Discern → Create
Every person, every organization, and every project has its own story, its own rhythm, and its own way forward.

My role is to create the space for a story to emerge, ask the right questions, and translate what I hear into thoughtful design, clear communication, and strategies that feel genuine.
If this winter has given me anything, it's clarity. Not about becoming someone different, but about recognizing the thread that has quietly connected everything I've done. For a while, those different parts of my life felt like separate paths. They never really were.
Whether I'm building a brand, designing a website, crafting content, exploring how AI can support the creative process, or working with someone one-to-one, my intention is still the same: to help uncover what makes each person or organization unique and express it with clarity, purpose, and heart.
So yes... I've been wintering this Summer. And I have a feeling this next season is already quietly unfolding.
